"12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it." - John 12:1-6
Beware of people who are only seen fighting for the rights of those to whom is it currently popular to fight for the rights of, they don't really care about anyone but themselves. Their goal in joining these bandwagons is to win popularity for themselves, which inevitably becomes profitable.
I think it's good when guys step up and take leadership, when there is a real need. But some men have this 'big man syndrome' where they always need to be the one calling the shots in every situation, let it go man, it's really annoying.
In every culture you get these sort of people.
In England Ellie and I were once having a nice romantic time swinging on some swings in a park, when a grumpy old man came up to us and said. "Hey! Hey! Do you know those are only for children!?". He had the sort of deep self righteousness that English are so good at, but I could tell this "Justice Warrior" was a wimp. He could see from our laughter and good time that we were nice people, who might listen to him, an ideal target to boost his pride. He would never have dared approach the young teenagers who would also often use the swings. Technically, this part of the park was for children, so he was technically right, that is, legalistically right, but not morally right at all. There were no children for miles around, and the swings were the normal heavy duty ones that anyone can use. If there had of been any children around, we would have certainly stopped swinging and let them use their park.
In China we have an arrangement with our local shop where we order in bulk and he delivers it to our door. He gets good business from us because of this. He is happy and we are happy.
One time one of our neighbors saw him carrying the good and criticized us for making him do that.
I guess these sorts of people are just bored and feel powerless in their life, otherwise they wouldn't see the need to be such busybodies.
A general? A Doctor? Maybe an MC?
Ha ha, wanna kiss you all the time, but I will test that butt if you cut outta line.
True dat, why you do that? I try to be a tough Dad, but you keep making me laugh.
Crazy joy, when I see the eyes of my baby boy.
I've been watching this Chinese TV show a lot recently, it's a comedy talk show featuring an international group of men who all speak Mandarin Chinese fluently. The topics are very relevant and funny, and the Chinese is easy enough for me to follow along with the subtitles. Recommended for lower-intermediate Chinese learners.
